Daniel Shen was born in San Diego. He attended UC Berkeley where he received his Doctor of Optometry degree.

Daniel helped organize a student trip to the Dominican Republic to provide free eyecare to the underpriveledged.

After graduation, Daniel served as a Captain in the USAF on the staff of David Grant Medical Center. In this large hospital, he treated thousands of patients from young children to retirees. He served two months in Japan as the sole eye doctor at Misawa Air Force Base. In 1994 Daniel, on a humanitarian trip to Bolivia, provided eyecare in cooperation with the Lion’s Club.

Daniel now lives with his wife in Santa Cruz.

Stephanie Kaye Krok grew up in Concord, California. She attended UC Berkeley where she received a Doctorate of Optometry in 1995 and was a recipient of the prestigious VSP award which is presented to two students who demonstrate excellence in clinical and academic performance. Stephanie travelled to Guatemala with VOSH and to Zimbabwe with Rotary International to render volunteer eyecare. For the past 4 1/2 years she has worked for a surgeon.

Stephanie will be Santa Cruz's first woman co-owned eyecare provider and represents the latest crop of therapeutically trained optometrists—she can virtually do everything other than surgery. Stephanie's creative style is manifested in our practice as well as in our selection of beautiful up-to-date quality frames.

Noel Krok was born and raised in South Africa. At age 19 he came to California and attended UC Berkeley for his Doctor of Optometry degree.

He donated many hours of his time to the suitcase clinic (a homeless vision screening program). Noel participated in the Rotary International Healthcare Project in Zimbabwe where he provided eyecare to the Batongan Tribe. Noel completed a Low Vision Residency, where he helped hundreds of patients, many with severe vision impairment. He was the 1995 recipient of the Designs for Vision Award for excellence in Low Vision.

After growing up surfing the waves of South Africa, Santa Cruz was an ideal destination to make his home.
